Santa Claus is comming to town...

When the nights are getting longer, the days colder ... and the children more and more nervous it can mean only one thing: Christmas is on the way. As every year, Father Christmas is arriving in a cold winter night, accompanied by 'Trichler' (cow bell shaking men), hand lanterns... and others (I'm tempted to say pagan creatures, which are difficult to describe, such as Santas Helper: 'Knecht Ruprecht' or 'Geisslechlöpfer': flagellum whiping man who enjoy making a hell of a noise). However, it is an exciting moment for children... and parents (who were children a long time before and recall the feeling they had when they were at younger age).

But THE day is the 6th of December, when Santa Claus visits each an every child in its home. On that day one can hear their little hearts beating louder and you can feel the excitement in the air... what did Santa write about me in his book? What is packed in his bag? Will I remember the little poem I rehearsed? ... ?

... and then, the doorbell rings!!!

PHUUUH, everything went nice and easy. And look what I've got...

I've got a bag of good things, and guess what's inside it...

Santa Claus is back in the forest... and the little ones are not unhappy about it.

Now starts the most wonderful time of the year (as long as you love Christmas Trees, lights, glitter and glimmer, cookies and... Christmas presents (we do not think about snow, icy wind, cold hand and red noses at this particular time of the year.

Christmas Eve won't be long...

What's that tempting smell in the air?

There's no Christmas without Cookies. As every year, I prepared several kinds of diffrent pastries. In figures: Approx. 6kg flour, 3kg butter, 3kg sugar,30 eggs, 1/2lt liquor (1dl for the cookies, the rest for my brother's trials).

On a Sunday we (Rodney, Markus, Madeleine, the kids and myself) cut, decorate, bake (and eat) cookies like crazy. This year, Markus unfortunately turned us down (well, he had a good excuse as he's actually in Paris). For that Nadine (godmother of Luana) gave us a hand... and new, stylish cooky decoration ideas as well).

The result of a busy day: A mountain of tasty cookies, happy but tired faces... and, as a matter of fact, no appetite for sweet things for at least 2 days!

... see you next year!
